Bhannerghatta, on the outskirts of Bangalore City, offers you the sights, sounds and action of a 2500-acre nature reserve. In fact, where else in the world you will find an extensive nature reserve in such proximity to a city? In the eco-proactive spirit of Jungle Lodges, we have crated a Nature Camp- an ideal place to bring out the naturalist in children and adults alike. Bhannerghatta is also where the Karnataka Forest Department rehabilitates lions, tigers and other animals rescued from exploitative environments. They live in kraals that recreate their natural habitats. This apart, you get the opportunity to go on India’s first Lion and Tiger Safari.
Bannerghatta Nature Camp has eight luxurious, tented cottages, twin-bedded Swiss-tents with attached bathrooms. The Camp also as two silted log-huts made from locally available logs and material. With attached baths, these huts are well appointed and comfortable in every way. The Camp also has a tidy dormitory for the economy traveler. The Camp has a fully equipped conference hall, with its own audio-visual equipments and multimedia projector. The hall can accommodate about 30 people, in theater style seating.
The main attraction of the Camp is the drives into the Bhannerghatta National Park. Guest at the Camp also gets proficiently entry into the extremely popular ‘Grand Safari’ in special JLR safari vans. The Grand Safari includes a visit to the Lion, Tiger and the Bear encloses. Beside the wildlife, there is a spectacular viewpoint and several important landmarks to visit too.
Perhaps nowhere else in India can one see so much wildlife. Sighting of elephants, sambhar, spotted deer, gaur, wild boar, sloth bear, wild dogs, etc., are almost assured, while if one is lucky, a tiger or a panther too, could be sighted. Our clients are permitted to shoot, not with guns but with camera and video. The sighting of wildlife in their eco-system creates awareness and respect among the humans towards other life forms.
